About

This site is about me, Kath Bicknell. That’s why my name is in the URL. Being a writer, racer, researcher in the twenty-tweens more or less demands cataloguing such exploits through an online home. This site pulls together the research I do, the equipment I use, the races I smash and the stories I tell.

My professional interests have largely evolved due to my experiences as a mountain biker. This sport offers a wealth of insights into the philosophical, anthropological aims of my work as an academic, and my skills developed through research provide an additional depth to my work as a journalist.

While the content here is linked under the theme of ‘me’, most of the work featured here points elsewhere. I write for a range of audiences about the experiences of many: magazines, journals, websites, conferences, bike sponsors, fellow riders. It’s a great time to be doing what I do.

Most people relate to the ideas described here with experiences from their own world. I hope you find something in them too.
