Have you been following @davysprocketmtb's A-Z of Retro MTB? You should, because they're brilliant. A creative daily-ish dose of MTB history and joyful, bike-loving geekery. I want this one on a t-shirt please, to soften the tears when we get to Z! · Love your style @davysprocketmtb. Super looking forward to whatever you do next. 🙌
And an action shot to go with the last post. YAY! · I want to write a long term perspective on the @specialized_au Women's Epic on my own website soon, including notes on changes and mods. If you have any questions please leave them in the comments and I'll do my best to take them on board. ✌️ · Photo by @thegayesy. Thank you!
While re-discovering the thrills of XC this year, I've been enjoying experimenting with the Specialized Fast Trak GRID tyres on the Epic. · "GRID" is Specialized for "Heaps better side wall protection". It's good for rocky terrain, a loose or aggressive riding style, general peace of mind when getting rowdy or going long and/or someone who forgets that their XC bike isn't a trail bike (or your trail bike isn't a DH bike). 🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️🙋♀️ · The first ride was three hours of technical sandstone. The best part was overtaking every single rider I saw out there on a trail bike that day (going up hill and down hill) and keeping all the air in the tyres at the same time! Weight penalty: barely anything compared to my phone, camera and a few snacks. Satisfaction rating: 14/10. · Thanks @specialized_au for the opportunity to use and learn about such nice equipment this year. It's been great for work insights as well as bike skills, and honestly makes every ride even more of a pleasure.
'While the two distances were billed as the Race and the Ride, only a very small number of people were there to race. The vibe on the course and in the event centre was relaxed, chatty and friendly, with people stopping at the top of climbs to regroup with their mates, share solutions to cramps (“Oh no! Try this pickle juice!”), or just to take a few moments before pedalling on. · 'In this way, the loops would be better described as the Ride and the Even Bigger Ride. The landscape is simply too stunning, the feed zones too appealing, and the freedom of wide lines around the corners on closed roads just too much fun to spend the day chewing the stem. This isn’t a criticism of the event, it’s precisely what made it such a fun day out.' · Hit my bio link for the full @letapeaustralia wrap for SBS Cycling Central and five minute highlights video. · On a related note, it was so sad to hear of Paul Sherwen's death this morning. My thoughts go out to the incredible number of people around the globe who were inspired by this kind, funny, bike-race-loving gentleman. There is a beautiful tribute video over at Cycling Central too. · Photo by Sportograf for L'Etape by Le Tour De France.
There were so many high fives given out on the @letapeaustralia course yesterday! 👋 . I enjoyed doing several media roles at once out there and especially loved chatting with so many riders. A massive well done to everyone who rode. I hope you’re all enjoying the post-ride eating and have safe travels back to home. . A phone photo from a very cool part of the descent into Jindy. Closed roads and sunshine made for such a nice riding experience. Article and video to come. ☺️
On my way to Jindabyne to cover @letapeaustralia with the @sbs_australia Cycling Central video and digital crew. Please say g'day if you're going to be there too. 👋 Forecast looking much brighter than last year. Big hoorays for that!
