New Bicycle Garage Kit

New kit (L), original kit (R). “Does my arse look big in this?!…”

Thanks to the Bicycle Garage, Lilyfield, for the wicked, new season, race kit. Not only does it feel fast and look the goods, but a special order in women’s sizing was too good to pass up. I wrote a column for the current issue of Enduro Mag talking about the secret training rides I’ve been doing with the BG crew.  In said column, I mentioned how good my original jersey made me feel, and that I’d probably still wear it if I was rubbish.  While this still holds true, there’s always something extra excellent about a snug fitting jersey that stays in place on fast descents and breathes easily in the summertime, and knicks so comfortable you feel like you can ride in them all day.  Speaking of which, it is currently the middle of winter in Sydney and today’s balmy weather meant there were no leg warmers in sight.  No wonder we look so happy!Continue reading “New Bicycle Garage Kit”

PhD Study: That Other Enduro…

There’s something about writing a PhD that makes people around you fidget, then ask, “Is it OK if I, um, ask, um, how it’s going?” It surprises me that postgrad students are a culture of people that make the people around them feel like that.  And it surprises me even more that people sign up to a three or four year project and accept the fact that they’re going to feel horrible and anxious a lot of the time.Continue reading “PhD Study: That Other Enduro…”

Vaude Women’s Air Vest

The Women’s Air Vest contours nicely to the body. Photo: Gaye Camm.

I love how useful a good fitting vest can be. During mid-season riding and cold season racing the wind blocking properties of a well made vest are the difference between a ride thoroughly enjoyed, and a ride wishing you were inside next to the heater. I have owned a few vests in the past, but they have all been men’s designs. This has meant that while the garment has blocked the wind, it has also puffed up like a parachute, or crept up my midriff in the process, which is neither fast nor particularly glamourous. The Vaude Women’s Air Vest contours nicely to the female form and also includes some other thoughtful features which keep it there.Continue reading “Vaude Women’s Air Vest”

Enduro Winter Jerseys

Enduro Mag’s black summer jerseys turned out to be mighty popular. So popular, that it was only logical to do a winter run too!  Available in men’s S-XXL, they feature three rear pockets, an additional zipped rear pocket, a full length zip, fancy cuffs and super-roubaix material.  The Enduro logo is also on the back of the jersey this time so when you overtake people at races they know which mag to read so they can be as amazing as you are!Continue reading “Enduro Winter Jerseys”

Enduro – Issue 19

I’ve stepped back a bit this issue to concentrate on finishing my PhD thesis but have really enjoyed seeing the amount of good writing rolling in from our other contributors. Andy Blair shares some of the training techniques that compliment on bike miles, Brett Bellchambers provides his thoughts the anti-training approach to world domination and I found myself penning a column about the fun I’ve been having on my road bike lately (gasp!). Alongside a stack of other content, hopefully the new issue is a healthy antidote to rainy days and cold morning starts.  It’ll be hitting stands from Monday. Enjoy!
