Easter Smiles and Training Miles at the CORC 6 + 6

Spectators have a funny knack of drawing upon a stand out feature of the riders they’re motivating.  For Mimi Guillot, eventual winner of On The Go/Onya Bike Belco and Civic 24 Hour Solo National Champs, it was “Happy Birthday Mimi!” from one end of the track to the other (I hope she saved some room for cake)!  For her partner Jacky Boisset, people zeroed in on his long white socks. Mont Madness

I can’t help but raise an eyebrow when people say they’re “just riding for fun.” When is riding not fun?  I think what they’re trying to express is that they’re riding for giggles not sheep stations. It’s a way of sounding cool when you’re really being soft.

Too much fun to choose from each day meant I had been sleeping while standing up.  The end of the year seems to have that effect on people and  looking around at the Awaba edition of the SRAM Singletrack Mind series, I don’t think I was the only one.  But what better way to really celebrate the end of the year than with a bunch of mates, fast, flying, descents and perfect December riding weather?Continue reading “SRAM Singletrack Mind Series – Rd 1”

Briars Highland Fling

A 100ker as a female racer brings with it some different tactics to those you sometimes hear about from the Elite Blokes. Longer race times mean different nutrition plans and a longer recovery period, smaller bikes often allow less space for biddons, a thinner rider density makes for multiple individual time trials and, while most guys are pretty complimentary out on the track, every now and then, someone says something ridiculous.Continue reading “Briars Highland Fling”
