2011 Website Update

This website has been updated heading into the new year.  This includes an updated racing calendar, gallery images and links to recent published works.  I’ve also tidied up the look and navigation of the site given the growing amount of content it contains.

Happy reading and thank you for your ongoing support.  2010 was big and amazing.  I wonder what new experiences we’ll be reflecting on this time next year!…

Time. Transcendence. Performance. Proceedings.

Peer reviewed conference proceedings from the “Time. Transcendence. Performance” conference I attended at Monash University in 2009 have now been published online.  Follow this link to browse through a large selection of work from the event.  I contributed a paper investigating the lived experience of cross-country racing, questioning the different thought processes in an elite and a developing athlete in relation to ideas about flow.Continue reading “Time. About Performance – No 10

About Performance is an annual journal situated within the academic field of Performance Studies.  The current issue considers the role of the spectator in live performance and includes a broad range of interesting works on the topic.  A paper I wrote investigating spectating at mountain bike events is included in this volume and considers the skill development processes made possible by watching other riders race across technical trails.Continue reading “About Performance – No 10”

AMBC Chix Race Team Blog

The Australian Mountain Bike Clinics Chix Development Team Blog is live.  The stories that are coming out of racing and training experiences in NSW and Vic are great, and I’m especially enjoying the perspective that comes from people discovering the sport and learning (with gusto) what riding and racing is all about.

Check it out at www.chixraceblog.ambc.com.au and keep an eye out for these girls on your local trails.

Enduro Issue 17

This issue celebrates the lead up to the 24 worlds.  Stevo’s written a great rider preview, Brad Davies checks out the course, I was able to interview the three time women’s champ Rebecca Rusch, and Gordo graces the cover on a steed so new we had to Photoshop out the protective stickers and reflectors (actually, that last bit’s not true, but it was pretty new). Meanwhile, there have also been a stack of other exciting events and tales to be told from other great races that have taken place over the last three months to get stuck into as well.

Putting this issue together, it’s been hard not to get swept up in the buzz preceding the big event, which will unfold on the Stromlo hillside in only one more sleep’s time!  Hope to see you on the hillside!
