There’s Something Special About the Scott

The Scott 24 Hour in Canberra is one of the biggest weekends on the mountain bike calendar. The field is huge, riders are pumping and heaps of bike industry folk fill up the crit track with tents and talk. Time off the bike is as high-energy as time on it.

I was honoured and excited to hang with the Swell Design Group contingent again this year. I wrote an article on Swell’s long history with the race last year for Australian Mountain Bike magazine. This year I covered the event for the crew at Flow Mountain Bike. To read the Flow story, you’ll need a log-in as subscriptions from the biking community enable quality content and high production values which make the site sustainable (Damian Breach’s images that accompany this story, like the one above, still have me re-clicking).

Thanks to everyone involved for another great weekend in and around the dirt. I love catching up with people at this race and hearing about what riding they’ve been doing, what’s happening in off-bike lives, and what they’re enjoying about articles in bike media. The energy and enthusiasm for riding that I take away from the Scott always gives me a big lift that lasts until the next one. How’s that for a reason to rock up again next year? Hope to see you there.
