The Australian Mountain Bike Clinics Chix Development Team Blog is live.  The stories that are coming out of racing and training experiences in NSW and Vic are great, and I’m especially enjoying the perspective that comes from people discovering the sport and learning (with gusto) what riding and racing is all about.

The Kona Unit Story

During the week leading up to the Singlespeed World Champs, the Bike Vegas bike shop had their own challenge for everyone.  Head into the shop for a clue, find the secret location where the jester is hanging out with a pack of cards, collect one of said cards, and hold onto it with your life.  The comp ran for four days, with a bike given away for each of them at the event after party.Continue reading “The Kona Unit Story”

AMBC Women’s MTB Camp

What goes on camp, stays on camp!! …But here are a few images to give a sense of the small skills that lead to big skills, and the stunning location where the camp was held (Del Rio Resort, near Wiseman’s Ferry about 1hr 45m North-West of Sydney).  There was much laughter, an all round increase in confidence and bike handling, a large coach:participant ratio, and Tomb Raider 2 was on TV to reward us for our efforts on Saturday night.  A great recipe for a fun weekend all round!Continue reading “AMBC Women’s MTB Camp”

JetBlack 12 Hour

The 2010 JetBlack 12 Hour for me was full of moments that added layer after layer of happiness to my already-beaming face.  The trails were quick and I became smoother through the singletrack as the day went on.  There was a bonfire.  A big one.  It felt like almost all my favourite people were there with me over the weekend.  The long pedally sections of the track allowed for some great conversations with riders I don’t always get to catch up with.  I rode as one of two Australian Mountain Bike Clinics (AMBC) teams and the women’s development program the company has started begun.  Someone bought me a hot chocolate.  Bellchambers sang “All the single ladies” from the top of the podium.  Our team got to stand where Bellchambers stood (and won beer).
