Women’s Riding Survey Results

Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out the women’s riding survey conducted by Australian Mountain Bike Clinics as part of the research process for creating the newly launched women’s development program.  The survey results (and a discussion of) are available here: Chix Survey AnalysisContinue reading “Women’s Riding Survey Results”

AMBC New Website Launch + Women’s Development Program

Australian Mountain Bike Clinics have snazzied up their website, developed a more progressive course structure, and (the thing I’m most excited about) have a whole heap of ideas in action to get more women involved in mountain biking.  These include women’s skills camps (with on-site childcare), hot looking “Ride like a girl” jerseys to spice up your riding wardrobe, opportunities to discuss riding off the bike (and arrange that next social ride) via online communities, and a Chix Development Race Team.Continue reading “AMBC New Website Launch + Women’s Development Program”

Adventure Medic First Aid Course

The team at Max Adventure contacted me after the Dirt Works 100km race and offered me a voucher to attend a 2 day Adventure  First Aid course run by Adventure Medic.  The voucher was offered as a thank you for stopping with an injured rider and friend out on the course until more qualified help arrived.  A reward like this was completely unexpected, but needless to say, I’m pretty thrilled to have the chance to learn a lot more about what to do next time (and there will be a next time) I’m out riding and someone has a nasty fall.  It’s good timing too, as my current Senior First Aid certificate will need renewing this year.

Enormous thanks to Max Adventure and to Adventure Medic for donating an entry into one of these courses.  I’m looking forward to booking in a non-race weekend that lines up with the course calendar!

Bicycle Garage Support

Due to an amazing lifestyle that weaves between uni and work commitments at different times of the year, I’ve moved house between Canberra, Sydney and the Blue Mountains 14 times since 2002, and consider all three places to be home.  For this reason, alongside continued support from Canberra’s Onya Bike Philip and Tuggeranong stores, I’m excited and very grateful to announce the additional support of the Bicycle Garage, Lilyfield, in Sydney’s inner-west.  Of all the different types of support available to riders of any level, that from a local bike shop is one one of the most invaluable – especially if you ride or race regularly and need considered advice or help with repairs to keep your bike as solid as your enthusiasm to ride it!Continue reading “Bicycle Garage Support”
