The U19s get started as the rest of the large junior field looks on.
The turn out for Sunday’s X-Fusion/BMC NSWMTB State XCO Champs was impressive and meant for close, exciting racing in just about every category.
Up at the front end of the Elite Women’s race, Jenny Fay outclassed the field with a sleek looking skin suit, hot pink “Hottie” socks and some seriously powerful riding. Solo legend, Katrin Van der Spiegel came in second, about a minute and a half behind.
My race felt like a comedy of errors where you try to laugh, but feel like you’re standing track side watching time slip by without you. I’ve had some amazing days on the bike this year, so it is probably my turn to have an “off” one.
Thank you to all the people who helped pull this event together and to the Blue Gum trail gnomes who have put hours of work into this popular, well-groomed track.
