This year has been an amazing one for new experiences and adventures. This has been made possible in no small way by support from the Bicycle Garage in Lilyfield, Sydney and the Subaru-MarathonMTB.com race team. So many great memories and journeys in the last twelve months have also made the ‘Gallery’ page look a little dated. It was time for an upgrade.

Some very sad news to share. My mum, Anne, died suddenly on Sunday night last week. One of her close friends described her as creating communities where ever she went. We are feeling so much love and support from all those communities as they hold us now. We will share details here about her funeral service over on the Facebook. Find me there at 'Kath Bicksy' - not a bad idea to find me there anyway as less people are using Instagram these days and it's nice to keep contact with friends I interact with more on here. Sending love to all of you as well. 🌸💐💗
It's not what you think! · Sara Kim Hjortborg (@nuuskin) cleverly unpacks deception and moulding attention in muay thai at today's CAVE (Centre for Agency Values and Ethics) interdisciplinary workshop on culture and cognition today. The workshop created such a great buzz from the types of questions asked and topics discussed by bringing such a diverse and interesting group of researchers together. · Sara Kim is working on her PhD with our Cognitive Ecologies research team @macquarieuni. It's such an exciting thing to watch this work develop, and to see the enthusiasm in the room for what we think is a fascinating project too!
Simple pleasures: butter, coffee and catch ups with friends. 🥳 So lovely to see you @tweetlorikeet. Thanks for documenting this most excellent croissant!
📝 "Curved edges, firm but not-too-firm padding and comfort for a range of riding postures makes Bontrager Ajna saddle one to try if you’re struggling with the narrower sweet spot on others." · Hit my bio link for a long term review on the @ridebontrager Ajna Pro Carbon Saddle. · I've been using this one for more than two years now, and have struggled to find similar comfort with others. I wanted to share some words in case they resonate with other riders having similar problems. Thanks to @trekbikesau for providing a new one for comparison. · Saddles are personal, but knowing what to look for in one that fits is always a huge help, as is a savvy bike fit (eternal thanks @velofixrozelle). 🙌
"...This research, which has recently returned from its first European tour, challenges interdisciplinary scholars with a shared interest in cognition and movement to think with their bodies as well as their minds..." · Excited to present some work on mountain biking, anticipation and riding into the great unknown at the Department of Theatre and Performance Studies, University of Sydney (@performancestudies_sydney) research seminar today. (Shout out to overseas collaborator @w_dc, you will be very missed!) · Justine Shih-Pearson (@jspinmidflight) is giving what looks to be a wonderfully entertaining talk deftly moving between choreographic strategies for writing, processed cheese and her new book project The Unkindness of Strangers, as only someone like Justine can. · JSP and I submitted our PhDs in this department on the same day about eight years ago, so there will be a bit of reflecting on what this experience and training has offered in the time since. Photo by Ryan G, riding the Megavalanche track in France, certainly a challenging and thought-provoking experience if, say, you've only seen snow a small number of times in your life! ⛄️
📝 "Trail therapy: there’s nothing quite like it for shaking out one lot of feelings and replacing them with others." · A short piece about the @rockytrailentertainment Superflow yesterday and why I enjoyed it so, so much. Link in my bio. ☺️ · Photo by @outerimage.au. Lovely to see you out there, Gil!
