When the MarathonMTB.com website first hit my radar I was inspired by and attracted to the way the site and it’s associated race team celebrate mountain biking as a lifestyle: the exciting races on offer, the adventures people have there and the frequent stories they share about these experiences on the web. I wouldn’t have believed it if someone had told me at that time that I’d end up riding with such a formidable crew in 2012.Continue reading “New Team, New Sponsors, New Year”

Biking Victoria
Buller. Forrest. Beauty. Beechworth. The Youies…Places I’ve long dreamed to experience by bike but never quite got there. Urban Biking Shoot
Biking is more than a means from A to B – or A to the finish line – it has a habit of creeping up on people and becoming a lifestyle. This week I caught up with photographer Bill Hatcher and MarathonMTB.com co-founder, Mike Blewitt, to add some two wheeled colour to some iconic urban locations. The results make me want to jump on my bike and do bridge repeats all summer. Sydney’s booming commuter scene implies I might be up for some competition.
Bill + The Bike Park
The rumours are true. Sydney has a mountain bike park, and it’s not just any mountain bike park: it flows, challenges, encourages and inspires. And if that’s not enough, the contrast of the white, banked turns with the lush greenery of Ku-ring-ai Chase National Park is a view that can make you forget to breathe.
While the park doesn’t officially open for another month, Bill Hatcher was keen to shoot the North Wahroonga trails and skills park in its shiney freshness. I was lucky to join Nic Learmonth and Melanie Bell last Sunday in front of the lens. A few photos are below that show the big, bermy XC track and the skills section located above it.
Fundraise for MS
Some people say you should do something every day that scares you. I kind of prefer to think of that statement as something that inspires you (but might sometimes feel a bit out of reach). Today I did both. I opened an email, crapped my pants, and entered the Sydney to Gong ride.Continue reading “Fundraise for MS”
