The Roomy arrived just in time for testing out my running legs at the World Champs!
Vaude have recently released some female specific packs. I’ve been super lucky to have the chance to use a “Roomy 17 + 3” which, like the earlier mentioned “Women’s Spray Jacket II“, pretty much does what the name suggests, with the added attention to detail that makes this brand keep on hitting the mark. This back pack is big enough to fit most of the things an over-prepared gear freak would want to use in a day, and light enough that it’s still a good choice on a wallet, phone, keys and jumper outing.Continue reading “Vaude Women’s “Roomy” Pack”
At the final state round held at Lidsdale this weekend, I rode as hard as I could along the first uphill piece of singletrack to find not only had the other girls gotten away but, pretty soon, I couldn’t even see them in the distance. As the race went on, other symptoms of being seriously run down continued to appear and became harder to ignore. In the end, I decided to choose health over pride and was thankful there was no pressure to pull a miracle – I needed to finish ninth or better today to win the series, and with only three of on the start line it was hard not to feel overwhelmingly happy!
The series beer glass is going straight to the pool room...or, erm, the terrace house window cill.
The racing has stepped up a level this year and a big thanks is in order for Craig “Spoon Boy” Amour and Duncan “the X-Fusion Dude” Miller who pulled the whole series together. Thanks also to all the local clubs and competitors who ensured great tracks to ride on, and adrenalin-pumping competition.
It would have felt pretty incredible to finish the season on a stronger note although, in terms of experiences and race results, it’s been a pretty dream-like winter – helped perhaps by the fact that a warm sleeping bag in Lithgow this weekend is as cold as I’ve been (think: not very!)!
The WSMTB 12 Hour has been my favourite event on the MTB calander since I first discovered riding. This year I teamed up with Gaye Camm to have a crack at the women’s pairs category.Continue reading “Jet Black/WSMTB 12 Hour”
Last weekend my good friend Briana and I led one of the MWMTB club’s women’s social rides in the lower Blue Mountains. Briana knows the trails around there much better than anyone else I know and stitched together some fun single tracks, which were challenging without being overly technical, and led to a beautiful lookout.Continue reading “Manly Warringah MTB Club Chix Ride”
The U19s get started as the rest of the large junior field looks on.
The turn out for Sunday’s X-Fusion/BMC NSWMTB State XCO Champs was impressive and meant for close, exciting racing in just about every category.
Up at the front end of the Elite Women’s race, Jenny Fay outclassed the field with a sleek looking skin suit, hot pink “Hottie” socks and some seriously powerful riding. Solo legend, Katrin Van der Spiegel came in second, about a minute and a half behind.Continue reading “X-Fusion/BMC NSWMTB State XCO Champs”
